SPRING SILENT JAM (Contact Improvisation) – Gosia Żurawska / Sunday, May 17

“The supernatural forces of spring give rise to wind in the Heavens and trees on Earth. Within the body, they form the liver and tendons, give rise to the color green… enable the voice to express a cry… and give rise to the eyes, the sour taste, and the emotion of anger.”

This is how the “Yellow Emperor’s Canon of Chinese Medicine” describes spring.

And what does this time of year stir within you? What inside you still wants to sleep, what wants to sprout and release its first leaves, and what is fully ready to bloom?

Spring Silent Jam is an invitation to mindfully explore our individual inner landscapes as well as the collective landscape that will emerge during this gathering. It will not take the form of a guided workshop, but rather a living laboratory co-created by each participant.

The gathering will begin with a short circle, during which we will discuss the structure we will follow. Then, together, we will enter Silence and give ourselves time for solo practice—to listen to the needs of our bodies and the Silence within us. From this place, the space will open up to a 2-hour practice of contact improvisation. After the jam, there will be time for a gentle exit from the process, a return to words, and a reunion in the circle.

I invite those who practice contact improvisation, who are ready to start on time and stay for the entire duration of the process (it will not be possible to join the jam after it has started).

Gosia about herself:

Silence nourishes me. It allows me to connect to the part within which is the most alive but often difficult to grasp in the daily multitude of stimuli and thoughts.
For a long time, I equated the possibility of experiencing Silence with seclusion, withdrawing from the word I live every day. Since I began to practice and experience being in Silence with others, it has changed my perception of relationships. I see great value in being together without words, I want to eplore this, create supportive conditions for it and invite others to this experience. In the city and in everyday life.

The inspiration for this gathering came from participating in events centered around Silence and Contact Improvisation practice: Contact Silence Retrests (Italy) and New Year Contemplative Silent Retreat (Czech Republic).
