“The Inner Sea” – a series of meetings with the Life/Art Process® method – Magdalena Burtan

The body shows us the way, emotions convey information, and elements of expressive art – such as movement, words, and images – help us understand inner impulses and embody change in our lives.

In this series, we will create space for unblocking and moving what flows through us, what wants to live, and what longs to fully express itself.

We will be supported by the Life/Art Process® method created by Anne and Daria Halprin, in which we use movement, dance, drawing, and the written word to delve deeper into the body, feeling, and subconscious understanding – carrying information deeper than that received at the level of thought.

Our daily lives and inner world will become the inspiration for our creativity.

About the Instructor:

Magdalena Burtan is a dancer, somatic educator, and artist working in the fields of dance theatre, performance arts, and psychology. She is interested in art as a response to the inner human condition and broader social, political, and cultural issues. She has been dancing since a young age, developing in various styles—from street forms, through flamenco, to contemporary dance.

She has trained in Poland and abroad—in London, the United States, and Portugal. She participated in the Formação Olga Roriz program at Companhia Olga Roriz in Lisbon, one of Portugal’s leading contemporary dance companies. She is a graduate of the L’ART Krakow School of Acting. She studied politics, social sciences, and international development at Queen Mary and the LSE in London.

She is currently training as a somatic educator in the Life & Art Process method at the Tamalpa Institute in San Francisco, California, where she completed the year-long Level 1: Personal Embodiment course. She is fascinated by the connections between dance, theater, art, depth psychology, and the development of human potential.
