“Witnessing the body” – intensive course of contemporary dance and movement laboratories – Maria Martos / every Saturday in April, 16:00 – 17:30

Witnessing the body – is a short but intensive course of dance and movement laboratories, that will take place every Saturday in April – 4 p.m. – 5.30 p.m.

While I witness my body, my body witnesses me. If I take this point to start from, my perspective and way of being in body changes, as well as changes the way I react, move, dance and finally live.

Going from this perspective of witnessing, I would like to offer you active observation on how our body lives, moves and dances in the context of time, space and impulses it constantly feels.
Each laboratory will be devoted to exploration of one of these basic conditions for movement and dance – time, space, impulse, effort.

Each laboratory will start from somatic practices that bring attention into the body, release mind control. Than we will continue with the research tasks and questions on topics, following a small discussion in the end.

I’m interested in observing the movement from its basics, witnessing the whole way from first impulse through all the changes/reactions/conflicts to dying. For me, ”simple” things are the most complicated and deep to research.
