Weekend Intensive BUTOH Dance Workshop – LIGHT-SHADOW – Kokoro – Krzysztof Jerzak / October 25-26

We invite you to participate in an intensive weekend BUTOH dance workshop – LIGHT AND SHADOW.

The workshop will take place October 25-26, 2025, at Kontakt. Space of Movement, Dance, Music and Art in Krakow.

Led by Kokoro – Krzysztof Jerzak (https://www.facebook.com/KokoroKJ)

What is that pure and luminous part of you? What is your darkness and shadow? What is your awareness and understanding of these aspects of yourself? Can you immerse yourself in these dimensions and express them in authentic dance?

During this workshop, we will explore what is lightest and darkest within us, what elevates us and what limits and paralyzes us.

In this process, each participant will be able to delve into their inner self (physical sensations, emotions, mental visions) to fully recognize them and express them in a liberating dance.

By releasing tensions and narrowing our consciousness, we open the gateway to the subtle layers of our self.

This workshop is aimed at both beginners and advanced practitioners interested in self-development and deepening and expanding their body-mind awareness.

It will be useful for dancers, performers, actors, those practicing martial arts, yoga, etc., as well as those interested in bodywork therapy who seek authentic movement and mindful presence in the body in relationship with others.

BUTOH
This is a “modern” Japanese dance that originated in the 1950s as a result of a search for new forms of expression. Based on a deep connection with the body, it allows for self-discovery through the exploration and integration of emotions, dreams, archetypes, symbols, and elements of nature. The dancer opens up to profound insights that allow them to transcend familiar patterns of expression. In this way, their movement is always fresh and unique, and dance becomes a ritual, creative, and liberating process that penetrates the unknown qualities of existence.
