“The Pleasure of Being” – presence practice workshop – Julita Olejnik / February 1

PLEASURE OF BEING – Julita Olejnik

I know we want to be more present in our daily lives. I also know that formal, sitting meditation is too far removed from everyday life for many of you – so let’s practice daily life.

The Pleasure of Being workshops are based on the practice of presence in the way we truly need it. We practice in action – maintaining awareness of our thoughts, body, and breathing while performing simple, everyday activities: speaking, walking, eating. Presence is not separated from life here – it is immersed in it.

The idea behind the workshops is simple: pleasure arises from complete absorption in what we are doing. When we surrender to an activity without effort or control, a state of flow spontaneously emerges. We all know this from our own lives – although we often treat it as something random.

However, this state is much more accessible than we think. A simple relationship operates here: the more we practice presence in the present moment, the more pleasure we gain in our daily experience.

The technique we use is also simple. We practice the mindfulness cycle of observing our breath, thoughts, and bodily sensations—from full concentration, through noticing distractions, to gently and patiently returning our attention. Without struggle. Breath, thoughts, and sensations ebb and flow—our task is to remain consciously connected to this movement.

We work with what is.
Pleasure is not the goal—it is a natural result of presence.

Workshop Procedure
1. Grounding in the Foundations
Grounding in the body and presence. Introduction to the mindfulness cycle and the principles of working with experience—effortlessly, without self-correction.
2. Practice of a Selected Activity (surprise)
Entering the experience through a simple, absorbing activity. We practice being fully connected to what is happening—in the body, breath, and mind—allowing pleasure and flow to emerge naturally. 3. Sharing
A space for sharing experiences and insights. A shared naming of what was alive, without analysis or judgment, as part of the process integration.

I began working with presence and mindfulness in 2017. Over time, it became clear to me that being in the body—without judgment and without resistance—opens the natural flow of energy. With this flow comes greater freedom in experiencing both the pleasant and the unpleasant.
Deepening my practice of presence in the body, I began to use mindfulness as a tool for opening up new areas of life—in my relationship with the body, emotions, thoughts, and everyday experience.
I share this practice with others from a place of gratitude and simplicity, with the intention of supporting people in unblocking the flow and regaining greater freedom in various areas of life.
