Song Laboratory Workshops – Alina Jurczyszyn (Aja Piesionka), Kamila Bigus / 9 and 10 July

Some say singing is the voice of the soul. Singing your own song, finding your own sound, that is what is primal, authentic, uncivilized in us through years of life in society, is crucial to restore our true, wild being to its living, free form. Music has healing power, it can restore joy in life, peace, sense of meaning, faith in your own creativity and its power.
We invite you to this common practice through traditional, polyphonic songs to awaken your voice and deepen your breath, discover the sounds of our body and the surrounding space. We will also sit in a circle to support each other in the search for our own song, which is just waiting to be able to sing itself, to express itself freely among the people who want to make it real.
The workshop is conducted using Alina Jurczyszyn’s original method of practice with voice, body and breath, inspired by e.g. training of the Gardzienice Theater and paramusical practices of the Institute of Jerzy Grotowski in Wrocław. The material for practice will be traditional songs and improvised songs. The participants are not required to have musical experience, but a willingness to express themselves through the sound and musicality they carry.
