MOVEMENT FROM FEELING: somatic practices, meditation and a dance meeting. – Joanna Książkiewicz / FEBRUARY 2, 6:30 p.m.

Dance as a path to yourself,

as a conversation with another person.

Return home – to your body.

I invite you to a practice that awakens, nourishes and soothes. A practice that allows you to meet yourself and others in mindfulness, wildness, flow and softness.

To movement and dance that helps regulate the nervous system, shed unnecessary tensions, restore the free flow of energy in the body and “regain feeling” that lies dormant under layers of tension.

This workshop will feature a movement practice with closed eyes (covered with a blindfold) – if possible, please bring such a blindfold or light scarf with you or let me know that you will need it 🙂

To take part in this meeting, you do not need to have experience with free movement or bodywork practices. During these workshops, I will lead you in a way that will benefit both people who are just opening up to practice through free movement and bodywork, as well as those for whom this is another meeting in the world of somatic practices and free dance.

You will find a detailed description and organizational information below.

Important – registration is required:)

To be discussed!

METHOD
We will use original practices of conscious movement and cooperation with the body. The sources of my experience are: Body Mind Centering (experiential anatomy, somatic education), Anna Halprin’s Life/art process, contact improvisation, meditation in movement, process-oriented psychology, butoh, solo and group improvisation, Thai massage, authentic movement, singing as life practice voice workshops with Emma Bonnici.

The foundations of our practice in these workshops are:

-deepening body awareness
-conscious movement in harmony with the nature of the body (somatic practices, organic movement)
-free, intuitive dance, allowing us to go beyond the patterns we know – solo, with another person and in a group (without repeating steps!);
– practice of (co)working with the body – through slowly introduced mindful, soothing touch, supporting the “recovery” of the body and feeling and establishing authentic contact

MORE ABOUT THE PATH

We will lead our attention through the next layers, structures of our body, using work with experimental anatomy as a path – to awaken movement in harmony with the nature of the body. Through gentle and invigorating practices of returning to the body, we will land in OURSELVES>

We will open ourselves to the pleasure that flows from such movement, to the exploration of a new perspective of perceiving the body, the processes occurring in it – also injuries, problems.

Through self-massage and gentle touch, we will learn how to trust our hands, how to give and receive such attentive touch, taking care of our boundaries. We will allow ourselves to use the support that another person can give us.

In silence, in music, in dance, which will be a natural development of conscious movement, we will open ourselves to the joy of contact, to the power of common experience as a group

Remaining aware of what is happening inside us, we will meet another person. We will create flow and freedom in this meeting by deepening mindfulness, but also using various methods and techniques that allow us to notice, leave or fully use the pattern we usually fall into when dancing together.

we will learn tools that will help us open up to new ways of establishing contact in dance, but above all, we will expand our awareness together about what happens to us during a meeting in movement.

Together we will look for alignment and flow.

We move in silence and with music. At the end of the workshop there will be space to share in a circle what we have experienced.

…And in simple words:

With mindfulness, gentleness, respect for the body and its hidden needs, we will immerse ourselves in conscious, free movement – one that:

-will help release tensions accumulated in the body
-will open you to feeling pleasure, deeply relax, reduce the effects of everyday stress;
-will reveal to you a new perspective on perceiving the body – its needs, injuries, problems;
-can both indicate a problem and be a tool for solving it.

-you would like to enrich your dance skills with a new
perspective of experiencing the body in movement

REVIEWS

A few feedbacks from participants of previous workshops on movement from feeling:

“What also happened to me personally was opening up, putting aside shame, starting from a place where it was difficult for me to jump, sigh or spread my arms and occupy any space at all, and ending in comfort, joyful frolicking, enthusiasm and the mental ability to perform full, open, pleasant and spontaneous movements in different spaces. (…) These classes work both before, during and after, and gave me a huge field for observation, understanding different mechanisms of my behavior and interactions with the world through something as relatively simple, and at the same time infinite in the possibilities it gives, as movement.” Ania

“I wanted to say that after the workshops you led, I feel grateful and soothed. In the space that you gave rise to, I felt safe and accepted. The fear of being with people receded into the background, as if it had dissolved. Thank you for your company in the workshop process, for the warmth, wisdom and tenderness that you shared.” Paulina

”Thank you for opening my heart through dance. For showing new qualities in movement. For softness, subtlety, a hint of madness.

I can say without a doubt that the “Movement from feeling” workshops were a breakthrough moment in my life. Magical things are happening now. Both with the body and the mind.

I am mega grateful that our paths crossed at this point in my life. And you also do gratitude for this for other people. I have the impression that you can heal through dance. Thank you!!” A.

“I love listening to the wisdom of the body, moving, dancing, connecting. I draw power from singing, dancing, and contact with nature. I am delighted by how the paths of our movement reveal and help transform what is playing in our mind and soul. I love traditional songs of the world, discovering the secrets of the human body, myths, and the other side of fairy tales.”
