EARLY SPRING – Ukrainian Traditional Spring Songs – One-Day Singing Workshop with *Marichka Chichkova
️ ⏰️ Friday, March 13, 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
This one-day singing workshop is a focused encounter with Ukrainian traditional song as a living practice. It is not a concert or a course, but a shared process of listening, singing, and being together, in which the song gradually unfolds—through body, breath, and mindful presence in the circle.
About the Facilitator
Marichka Chichkova is a singer and researcher of traditional music who has been working with authentic singing in Ukraine and abroad for many years. Her approach is based on a deep respect for the sources, while simultaneously understanding tradition as something living and relevant. She leads the process in a mindful and gentle manner, creating a space in which each voice can emerge without tension or fear of error.
About the Workshop
Participants work with 1-2 traditional songs per day. The classes are conducted without sheet music and require no prior experience. The primary emphasis is on listening, repetition, the physical experience of the voice, and the shared sound. We don’t “learn the songs” in the classical sense—we gradually immerse ourselves in them, allowing time and silence for them to unfold.
About the Intention
The workshop was conceived as an intimate and safe space where song becomes a form of connection—with oneself, with others, and with tradition. There are no correct or incorrect performances, only the process and shared presence. This format is suitable for both those taking their first steps in traditional singing and those with experience who desire depth and mindfulness.
