CONTACT IMPROVISATION in SLOW MOTION quality – Marta Grabowska/ 13/01

Dear. So very briefly.

I want to invite you to carefully explore this quality of movement.

To be calmly within yourself and dance.

To discover the technique step by step.

To play with slowing down and enjoy what appears.

There will be technique and work with body awareness, there will be improvisation, there will be rest and there will be good fun.

The workshop has an open formula. Anyone can participate. Regardless of age, gender, dance and movement experience, etc.

CONTACT IMPROVISATION DANCE TECHNIQUE – joint discovery of the physics of movement. We learn the elements of the contact improvisation technique, allowing us to improvise safely and find our own movement paths; how to use the body structure to support yourself, carry, lift, fall and fall safely and effortlessly, how to use “rolling”, a spiral movement to softly change shape and move comfortably with your partner. In CI, elements create a fluid and circulating whole. We will seek and experience connection and continuity in dance and movement.

MEETING OTHERS IN DANCE, i.e. being in contact with another person while moving.

• Moving in space, in the relationship of bodies, in a relationship in which I precisely feel weight, direction, mobility, stability, flexibility.

• It gives me physical, very specific information so I can play with gravity, centrifugal force, momentum in motion.

• The physical contact of the dancers is not single-point, constant and static, it is a smooth following of the moving point of contact with the partner.

IMPROVISATION, or eternal SEARCH…

• Going beyond established movement patterns, playing with unpredictability, surprising yourself.

• Searching for pleasure and comfort in movement.

• Creating space for the new.

WORKING WITH BODY AWARENESS, seeking balance and diving into our dancing body to consciously feel what is happening in it.

Feel and follow the most optimal path for us or break the pattern and sail into the unknown :).

Contact Improvisation is my passion, a space for me to experience myself in movement, dance and being with others.

I HAVE BEEN DANCED CONTACT IMPROVISATION for over fifteen years. I have been a teacher of this contemporary dance technique for over a dozen years. With constant passion, I collect experience related to Contact Improvisation (CI), participating in and co-organizing workshops, jams and projects related to CI. I completed the two-year project Academy of New Dance and Improvisation, of which I was also a co-organizer. In 2013, I was a participant and co-organizer of ECITE – International Contact Improvisation Teacher Exchange in Poland. For six years, together with Ewa Świtoń, I conducted regular classes, workshops and weekend series, as well as CI dance camps, passing on Contact seeds received, among others, from Milan Kozanek, Zuna Vesan Kozankowa, Nancy Stark Smith, Yaniv Minzer, Iwona Olszowska, Maria Grudskaya, Mirva, Joerg Hassmann, Daniel Werner, Tal Avni, and others. I co-create the Sensus Foundation – Center for Creative Development, created out of the need to spread love for dance.
