BUTOH – DANCE WORKSHOP IN CRACOW / Conducted by: Krzysztof Jerzak / February 4-5

Conducted by: Krzysztof Jerzak

The workshop is aimed at people interested in self-development and deepening and expanding body awareness. It will be useful for:
dancers, performers, actors, people training: martial arts, yoga, etc., as well as people interested in therapy through the body, who are looking for authentic movement, creativity, and careful presence in the body in relation to others.

The workshop will be a combination of various methods of working with the body, creating
together a coherent whole:
– Aikishintaiso (internal Aikido gymnastics),
– Noguchitaiso (Noguchi Michizo gymnastics),
– dance with/without painting,
– expressing emotions in dance,
– improvisation,
– dance: individual, in contact with a partner and in a group,
– meditation and deep relaxation.

Thanks to this approach, the workshop participant will be able to delve into their interior (physical sensations, emotions, mental visions, “sense” of space, etc.) to realize and express sensations in authentic movement.

Japanese “modern” dance – originated in the 1950s as a result of searching for new forms of expression. Its creators: Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno negated both their own tradition (Kabuki, Bunraku, Nō) and “opposed” the mass culture of the West.
In Butoh dance, the body becomes a text, a record of human experience discovered through movement. Butoh creates opportunities for direct, total self-expression.
