DESCRIPTION:

During the class, you will experience a combination of dance improvisation, physical theater, and—in the second half of the class—therapeutic dance.

In the first half, we will focus on physicality (including breathing) and play with solo and group improvisation techniques (not to be confused with contact improvisation), including physical play.

In the second half, we will move on to dance and movement therapy.

The topic of the class is BODY-VOICES.

How does the body communicate when it is: warmed up, attuned (attuned to your psycho-physical state), open, and safe. What does it say and how does it speak… how does it listen? What shapes, symbols, and gesture-shapes does it create? What stories does it tell?

I’ve been working with the body for 20 years, and I’m still surprised by how the body always “sings” everything back to me, even things buried and hidden. What comes to the surface almost always turns out to be something other than a premonition. And it’s something both precious and uniquely mine.
And then I feel this “ahaaaaaa” and it’s as if a light bulb has turned on in the room and I know where I am.

I’m filled with curiosity, surprise, and a sense of opening and expansion. As if I were watching a performance on stage. Then suddenly, one of the walls shifts and the stage appears twice, three times larger.

I invite you to discover, have fun, meet, learn, and experience something together.
Come; you don’t need any experience in the subject or a specific age. We welcome young, middle-aged, and senior citizens. The group is of mixed ability. Drop in, try it, and be with us. Alicja

These classes are intended as a guide only. We won’t be diving too deeply. Such things happen in long-term process work. This is more of a foretaste than the essence of the process itself, but it’s still a complete and hearty experience :).
The event is both a separate workshop and a trial class for the Therapeutic Dance and Contemporary Dance course with Alicja, which starts on September 16th.

The 67 PLN fee for the class puts you on the list of participants and guarantees you a place in the workshop. You will receive the transfer address via email.

Price before September 7th: PLN 67.
Price after September 7th: PLN 76.
Price on the day of the class: PLN 80. (On the day of the class, payment is only possible on-site (cash or check).)

Instructor Information:
Alicja teaches therapeutic dance and contemporary dance at the Kontakt space in Krakow.

She has been involved in Krakow’s dance scene, video dance, dance and vocal improvisation, and physical theater for years.

Singer, composer, songwriter, and leader of the Monstera music band.

Educated: cultural animator, art coach, and choreotherapist. She is studying art therapy.

She is passionate about encounters between various forms of expression—movement, dance, sound, words, and images.
