DESCRIPTION:
During the lesson, you will experience a combination of dance improvisation, physical theater, and – in the second half of the class – therapeutic dance. In the first half, we will focus on physicality (including breathing) and play with solo and group improvisation techniques (not to be confused with contact improvisation), including physical play. In the second half, we will move on to dance and movement therapy.

The topic of the class is the postures, symbols, gestures, and shapes through which the body speaks, communicates, lies, tells, responds, whispers, shouts, or remains silent in movement/dance.
How does the body communicate and “shape” itself when it is: warmed up, attuned (attuned to your psychophysical state), open, and safe? What does it talk about and how does it listen? How does what you feel translate into how your body adjusts to movement? What shape does your body take today? What does this shape symbolize? What does it want to tell you? How would this shape connect with the world?

I’ve been working with the body for 20 years, and I’m still surprised by how the body always “sings” everything back to me, even things buried, hidden away. What comes to the surface almost always turns out to be something other than a premonition. And it’s something that’s both precious and uniquely mine. And then I say, “Ahaaaaaa,” and it’s as if a light bulb went on in the room and I know where I am. I’m filled with curiosity, surprise, and a sense of opening and expansion. As if I were watching a performance on stage. Then suddenly, one of the walls shifts, and the stage appears two or three times larger. I invite you to discover, have fun, meet, learn, and experience something together.

Come along; you don’t need to have any experience in the subject or be a specific age. We welcome young, middle-aged, and seniors alike. The group is mixed. Drop in, try it out, and join us.

●Note: These classes are intended as an overview. We won’t dive too deep. Such things happen in long-term process work. This is more of a foretaste than the essence of the process itself, but it’s still a complete and heart-warming experience :). The event is both a separate workshop and a trial class for the Therapeutic Dance and Contemporary Dance course with Alicja, which starts on october 7th.

Leader: Alicja Miszczor: Born in 1999. Born in 1982, she lives in Krakow. A movement actress, dancer, improviser, and experienced instructor of dance improvisation, physical theater, and therapeutic dance. She is the creator of the Interart Dance method. ArteCoach (Master of Coaching, Meritum School). Certified Hatha Yoga instructor. Scholarship holder of the Alternative Dance Academy in Poznań. Certified choreotherapy instructor: Movement Improvisation and Body Symbolism (Institute of Dance and Movement Dynamics, Essen, Detlef Kappert). A graduate of the PPSKAK Academy of Dance and Movement in Kalisz, majoring in contemporary dance. From 2008 to 2015, she was a dancer at the EST with Iwona Olszowska. From 2013 to 2015, she collaborated with the Barakah Theatre in Krakow. She is also the author of dance performances and dance videos. She collaborates with the Kreissau Foundation, where she has been conducting inclusive workshops for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities since 2018. In 2024, she completed the Anna Halprin Course: Dance and Gestalt, Life/Art Process. She is an art therapy student at the WSKZ (Wrocław).
In her free time, she is a vocalist, composer, lyricist, and leader of the band Monstera. She is passionate about encounters between various forms of expression – movement, dance, sound, words, and images.
