AUSTRALIAN VERY OPEN – SOLO SHOW – Monika Kiwak / April 13, 8:45 PM (15 minutes) / free entrance

AUSTRALIAN VERY OPEN. SOLO IMPROVISATION SHOW FOR BODY AND VOICE

April 13, 8:45 PM (15 minutes) / FREE ADMISSION

Show will be based on inspirations that Monika brought from Australia, mainly from the extraordinary pedagogue Andrew Morrish.

I improvise for pleasure and to explore my imagination, to create poetic movement and voice statements.

Andrew Morrish is an exceptional pedagogue. With Australian lightness and sense of humor, he supports artists in building confidence in themselves, organizing feedback around one task: naming their pleasure. I learned his extremely precise methodology of teaching improvisation in Poland, Sweden (National Institute of Music and Dance Scholarship) and in Australia (thanks to the enormous support of Andrew Morrish, Rosalind Crisp and the Australian government). I had the privilege of performing with Andrew in Australia and practicing improvisation with artists with whom Andrew practices.

For Andrew Morrish, body sensations and imagination are an inexhaustible source of movement and storytelling. The improvisations created from them surprise with mood, play with words and sense of humour, sticking in the memory of those who watch them. They are also remembered by those who perform them. For you, it will be an experience of being close to yourself and being surprised by your imagination.

The show will be improvised for you by: Monika Kiwak

I am an artist, improviser, in love with contemporary dance since the first lesson with Iwona Olszowska in 2003. The infatuation turned into a love for improvisation with the Body Mind Centering approach, an approach combining anatomy and imagination. At the same time, I was fascinated by new choreography and as a scholarship holder of Stary Browar Nowy Taniec I came across coaching with Andrew Morrish in 2017. I fell in love with this approach to improvisation.
