A Celebration of Buddhism
With Lama Dorje

⏰️ Saturday, September 5, 15:00 – 18:00

The Buddha, the enlightened one, by exploring his own mind with great diligence, discovered a true and reliable path to overcome the struggles we often face in the world.

Since that time, people around the world have been following that Buddhist path. Recently, we have the great good fortune to receive these teachings here in the west.

Lama Dorje will share a brief history of Buddhism and the approaches of different schools. We will begin with traditional forms of meditation, and then explore how compassion, as our fundamental aspiration, deeply influences our practice.

Finally, we’ll visit the methods of Tibetan Buddhism. These advanced practices help us to overcome the common challenges of meditation through methods that combine confidence, aspiration, visualisation, words and prayers into a single practice!

This is an invitation to personally experience the first profound steps of the Tibetan path of Buddhism.
My hope for our time together is to share the joy and inspiration of a path that’s fully accessible and that is truly transformative.

About Lama Dorje

Lama Dorje began his Buddhist path in his early twenties in Kyoto, with the Rinzai and Soto Zen schools of Japan. After 25 years of Zen practice in the lineage of Suzuki Roshi, he encountered great masters in the Tibetan traditions and eventually met his primary teacher, the renowned master and scholar, Thrangu Rinpoche.

After completing the traditional 3-year retreat, Thrangu Rinpoche directed Lama Dorje to begin teaching. Rather than emphasising any one Buddhist school, Lama Dorje speaks of that which is common to all Buddhist schools; the path of kindness and an open heart, living in the present, and discovering freedom from the obstacles we habitually create.

Lama Dorje uses stories, teachings, guided meditations, and group discussion to help us find our own insights and inspiration into the Buddhist path.

In person, whether the context is formal Buddhist teachings or finding our way to a daily life of compassion, Lama Dorje aims to present the seemingly complex practices and words of Buddhism in the simple, clear, life and meditation instructions they really are.
