Hello to all the women dancing in Krakow!
⏰️ On September 15th, I’m coming to lead a unique dance class in the style of **ETHNIC CONTEMPORARY DANCE with ELEMENTS OF PELVIC WORK.
This style draws inspiration from the worlds of belly dance, classical ballet, contemporary dance, and Sufi dance – it’s a fusion of the best of these worlds.
What characterizes it above all is its fluidity of movement.
We will begin with a warm-up on the floor, allowing gravity to help us better understand pelvic floor work, open the pelvic and hip areas, and establish a deeper connection with ourselves.
We will be able to more consciously feel our bodies – both physically and energetically.
We will then move into a standing position, feel the vertical movement of the pelvis, learn a choreographic combination, and begin moving in space.
The class will be accompanied by music that will help us warm up and then guide us through a variety of rhythms and moving music from around the world.
The essence of this practice is connecting with ourselves, releasing tension in the pelvic area, and enabling the free flow of energy in the body, which can translate into fluid, organic movement.
At the end of the class, we will also devote a few minutes to individual movement expression – so that each of us can express our own understanding and experience of movement in space.
About me
My name is Livnat Roif. I am a dancer, performer, and dance teacher, a body psychotherapist, and a creator of movement spaces that enable connection and exploration – leading to full, integrated expression.
As a dancer, I was raised on the foundations of classical ballet. I studied at a professional music and dance school in Jerusalem, where I also expanded my horizons to include other styles – contemporary dance, choreography, and improvisation.
As a result of my injury and close listening to my body, I realized I needed to learn to let go and release tension. I was particularly drawn to the pelvic area.
Working with the pelvis, which differs dramatically from the compact, controlled body movement characteristic of classical ballet, taught me to move from a different place – one that was softer, more open, and more empowering.
This work allows me to release blockages and stagnation and helps me establish a deeper connection with myself. I discovered many treasures there, delving even deeper into my immense passion and love for dance and movement.
From this work, my love for ethnic contemporary dance was born. I performed and taught the repertoire of the “Nvia” company, founded by choreographer Sigal Ziv.
What’s important to me in teaching
I believe that dance isn’t just a beautiful form in space. It’s connected to the very deep values and feelings we carry within ourselves. Therefore, I believe that the source of our movement is of paramount importance.
The more we allow ourselves to relax our bodies and internal judgments, and the less we focus on appearance and results, the more we can touch the essence of movement, discover new and diverse possibilities for our bodies, and derive greater pleasure and connection from dance.
The new movement we discover in our bodies also impacts our lives.
