Vocal Improvisation Workshops – Lydie Kotlinski and Edward Rey / March 21

Vocal Improvisation Workshops led by Lydie Kotlinski and Edward Rey

We improvise constantly in our daily lives, but what is vocal improvisation?

*listening
*dialogue
*space
*freedom
*creation

Using the inhalation and exhalation (sound) combined with movement, we will initiate a process of free expression.

Without reflection, just the first step towards breath-sound: simply let yourself flow, let yourself speak, let yourself be sound.

Then we gradually introduce the concept of listening to yourself, body sensations, others, responses, and shared well-being.

Then harmony emerges. Musical harmony and the harmony of the world in this very moment.

Lydie Kotlinski:
“Vocal improvisation is about finding freedom within yourself within certain constraints.
Because it is the art of being here and now.
We accept the situation and listen to the other person with kindness. We develop their proposal without critical judgment.
And above all – we let go and throw ourselves into action!
This is freedom of expression and freedom of creation.
Let us let our inner selves speak.
Let us go where we have never been before and create together. Let us discover together.
Using various techniques, exercises, and rhythmic and melodic games will lead us into this state and enrich us.”
