We invite you to a weekend BUTOH dance workshop – HEALING TRANSFORMATIONS, which will take place on February 21-22, 2026, in Krakow.
Led by: Kokoro – Krzysztof Jerzak (https://www.facebook.com/KokoroKJ)
Butoh dance can support stability, balance, and the integration of an individual’s sense of self. With appropriately focused techniques and visualizations, we can positively influence our inner environment.
During the workshop, we will undergo a series of transformations that directly or symbolically relate to specific parts of our personality:
– we will come face to face with what currently limits us,
– we will pay homage to our ancestors, restoring or strengthening our sense of connection with them,
– we will walk a path of awareness of various stages of our lives so far,
– we will say goodbye to what no longer serves us and open ourselves to new experiences with our full potential,
– we will also touch our tender, loving hearts to deeply feel our inner coherence and connection with all beings.
Dancing, we reach “places” our intellect cannot access. In this way, we bypass the rational perception of internal processes and directly engage in the experience and bodily expression of unconscious aspects of consciousness.
The workshop is intended for both beginners and advanced practitioners interested in self-development and deepening and expanding their body-mind awareness. It will be useful for dancers, performers, actors, practitioners of martial arts, yoga, etc., as well as those interested in bodywork therapy who seek authentic movement and mindful presence in the body in relationship with others.
This workshop should not be considered therapy. It should be viewed as support in the individual process of transformation and integration of consciousness.
BUTOH
This is a “modern” Japanese dance that emerged in the 1950s as a result of a search for new forms of expression. Based on a deep connection with the body, it allows for self-discovery through the exploration and integration of emotions, dreams, archetypes, symbols, and elements of nature. The dancer opens up to profound insights that allow them to transcend familiar patterns of expression. This way, their movement is always fresh and unique, and dance becomes a ritual, creative, and liberating process that penetrates the unknown qualities of existence.
