Kalari is a holistic discipline that combines intensive movement training with internal focus, traditional rituals and healing elements (e.g. kalari massage).
We will learn the basics of two styles of kalarippayattu:
vadakkan style (mostly northern) and thekkan (southern style), both styles originate from southern India, the state of Keral.
During 3 meetings in June we will learn:
– traditional kalari training with 5 breathing exercises (including: warm-up of the whole body, strengthening, stretching, coordination exercises)
– two basic body positions: amarne and valinyamarne
– characteristic kalari leg swing exercises
– we will start learning an intensive and spatial meypayattu sequence
– we will learn 1 or 2 kalari movement sequences from the southern style
The intensity of the classes will depend on the psychophysical abilities of the participants.
The classes are intended for everyone: beginners and advanced in working with the body of participants.
