There will be a rare opportunity to listen live to traditional deep singing – cante jondo and experience flamenco in its original form, as an intimate experience shared by artists and a small group of listeners, all performed by great artists, Gypsy singer Carmen Fernandez, outstanding guitarist Arturo El Polaco and the charismatic dancer Marta Robles.
The artists are an extremely harmonious trio. They are connected by a long-term friendship, a rich history of joint concerts and festivals, and above all, a similar sensitivity and a common desire to seek not only beauty in flamenco, but also spiritual depth.
CARMEN FERNANDEZ comes from the town of Utrera, called “the city of flamenco singing”, from a gypsy family with very strong artistic traditions. She learned to sing from an early age from her parents and relatives. In 1998, she decided to pursue a professional stage career and since then she has been constantly traveling around Europe performing with various bands, including Conchi Vargas and Andres Marina.
In addition to performances with large music and dance ensembles, he has performed numerous solo recitals at prestigious flamenco festivals. In 2009, she was a semi-finalist of the most renowned flamenco singing competition at the Cante de la Minas festival in La Union.
She has recorded three CDs with the traditional repertoire of flamenco songs: “Carmen Fernandez & Urlich Gottwald” 2003, “Natura” 2005 and “De corazón” 2015. She works as an assistant lecturer at the flamenco guitar department at the CODART Music Academy in Rotterdam.
MARTA ROBLES (Marta Dębska) – dancer, choreographer and dance instructor, founder and head of the TRIANA Flamenco Dance School in Warsaw, soloist and one of the founders of the LOS PAYOS group.
She began learning flamenco at the age of 15 and devoted her entire adult life to this art. She studied in many renowned dance schools in Seville with well-known dancers, but her most important master, who taught her the essence of flamenco dance, is El Torombo, with whom she had the honor of performing in two performances, presented at festivals in Germany.
Currently, her artistic activity focuses on performances with the band LOS PAYOS and on the project “Peña Flamenca TRIANA”, which consists of cyclical concerts with singers and dancers from Andalusia, during which Marta has the opportunity to cooperate with excellent artists “from there” and feel the thrill of improvisation brings.
ARTURO EL POLACO (Artur Muszyński) – an outstanding instrumentalist, guitar virtuoso and a living encyclopedia of Flamenco knowledge.
“In this Art, the most interesting feature for me is the joint improvisation and the role of the guitarist as an accompanist and a person who binds the whole piece together and gives it its final form” says the artist. Understanding singing as a source of meaning in the art of flamenco and dance as a carrier of energy and rhythm gives the guitarist the opportunity to immerse himself deeply in “here and now” and play music that appears by itself, which “flows down from above”.
Co-founder of the “TRIANA” Flamenco Dance and Guitar School in Warsaw, leader of the Compañía Flamenca LOS PAYOS group, originator and artistic director of the “Peña Flamenca TRIANA” project, where he has the opportunity to develop his artistic skills alongside the best flamenco artists from Andalusia.
In addition to strictly flamenco activities, he collaborated in creating the musical setting for numerous television programs and theater performances.
He collaborated with Antonina Krzysztoń, as well as with Kora Jackowska herself, participating in the Kora Ola Ola project, and gave concerts all over Europe with the outstanding classical cellist Ramon Jaffe.
As a passionate and great lover of Flamenco Art, Arturo focuses his artistic activity on spreading and presenting to the Polish audience what is best in singing, dancing and music of Andalusian culture.
