We invite you to an extraordinary concert in an extraordinary place.
Two great artists: the Gypsy singer JESUS FAJARDO from Granada and the excellent guitarist ARTURO EL POLACO will take the Krakow audience on a journey to the land of Flamenco Art, full of magical sensations and raptures, in the climatic space of an old tenement house, opposite the Słowacki Theatre.
It will be an atmospheric, intimate concert of real CANTE FLAMENCO, i.e. deep singing.
Concerts of this type are rare in Poland, because usually flamenco performances are dominated by dance. Meanwhile, in Andalusia, listening to flamenco singing live, accompanied by a guitar, is at the heart of this culture.
During such recitals, the artistry of the performers, the mood of the place, the concentration of the audience and the magic of flamenco make the concert a real catharsis for all participants. Flamenco singing is not easy to perceive, it is rather like bitter chocolate, dry wine, noble whiskey. It is a challenge for the recipient, but also an opportunity for a deep spiritual experience.
Arturo El Polaco Muszyński – an outstanding instrumentalist, guitar virtuoso and a living encyclopedia of knowledge about Flamenco.
“In this Art, the most interesting feature for me is the joint improvisation and the role of the guitarist as an accompanist and a person who binds the whole piece together and gives it its final form” says the artist. Understanding singing as a source of meaning in the art of flamenco and dance as a carrier of energy and rhythm gives the guitarist the opportunity to immerse himself deeply in “here and now” and play music that appears by itself, which “flows down from above”.
Co-founder of the “TRIANA” Flamenco Dance and Guitar School in Warsaw, leader of the Compañía Flamenca LOS PAYOS group, originator and artistic director of the “Peña Flamenca TRIANA” project.
In addition to strictly flamenco activities, he collaborated in creating the musical setting for numerous television programs and theater performances.
He collaborated with Antonina Krzysztoń, as well as with Kora Jackowska herself, participating in the Kora Ola Ola project, and gave concerts all over Europe with the outstanding classical cellist Ramon Jaffe.
As a passionate and great lover of Flamenco Art, Arturo focuses his artistic activity on spreading and presenting to the Polish audience what is best in singing, dancing and music of Andalusian culture.
This Saturday, accompanied by his guitar, JESUS FAJARDO will sing for you – an artist from Granada, who comes from a gypsy family of flamenco singers. Granada is imbued with the spirit of flamenco, the Sacromonte caves and the Albaicin district are still inhabited by gypsy families in which flamenco is passed down naturally from generation to generation. Jesus Fajardo is such a natural and he conveys this authentic primal flamenco energy in his singing. His hoarse voice and the way he sings “from the gut”.
