DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT  COURSE:

KEY INFO (objectives and methods):
This course is a land of calorie-rich creativity and a celebration of expression, but also a mindful journey for the mind, body, and spirit. A journey in which you not only discover and deepen your dance and motor skills, but also receive support and have the opportunity for insight, transformation, and a new appreciation of your potential (not just creative). Working with emotions is also a key element.
All this through play, authentic expression, and a deep experience of self through mind-body connection, as well as reflection, pause, rest in movement, and space for regeneration.

You will receive tools from the broadly defined fields of contemporary dance (primarily from the area of dance improvisation, where you can finally forget about the steps and surrender to fully uninhibited expression), as well as from the fields of therapeutic dance and elements of physical theater.  Here, you’ll learn (or deepen) the following methods: Dr. Detlef Kappert, Anna Halprin’s method (elements), and the original method of the instructor at Interart Dance. Elements of Qi Gong, Yoga, and relaxation techniques will also be present. Body awareness and mindfulness exercises will also be constantly present.

In this course, dance intertwines with other artistic disciplines, and movement expression techniques with mindfulness training.

The course is led by a practitioner with twenty years of experience in bodywork and a passion for what she does. The grounding in specific methods provides a balanced and mindful approach to both dance and personal development. We don’t promise you eternal happiness 24/7 or a recipe for life, but rather a unique training for surfing the waves of life.

Additional strengths of the course include: the in-person format, regularity, and a competitive price – considering the program.

COURSE AS A CLOSED UNIT:
The course is a process (a series of workshops) and takes place in a CLOSED FORM, meaning in a fixed group.
The course is open-ended and designed to benefit both experienced and beginner participants.

About the combination of CONTEMPORARY DANCE and THERAPEUTIC DANCE:
The interweaving of therapeutic dance and contemporary dance (here: dance improvisation), therapeutic dance, and other disciplines in this course is crucial and not accidental, as it trains the dancer not only in experiencing and releasing the content stored in the body, but also in body awareness, motor agility, and the use of specific forms in movement.  This approach allows the mind to keep pace with the body and facilitates self-expression, preventing us from getting stuck at the level of sensation, association, or imagination. The physical aspect both supports mental space and allows us to delve deeper into the process. Not to mention the side effect of improved physical fitness (so crucial for health).

3 PILLARS OF THIS COURSE:

DANCE IMPROVISATION
This is a calorie-rich celebration of your expression through movement/dance.
It is your unique way of expressing yourself in the language of movement.
It is movement in which you are the creator, creating new worlds, and within them, yourself anew. At the same time, this creation is movement that arises by letting go of control and judgment, and grounding yourself in the present moment in topics available in real time.

THERAPEUTIC DANCE:
It is meeting yourself more deeply and allowing yourself to be yourself. Change is not the goal, but happens through dancing with what is. It is an authentic expression of all your parts (both light and dark). What is noticed, allowed, and expressed changes form, often becoming your ally.

3. PHYSICAL THEATRE:
It is the encounter of theater and the body feeling in movement.
It is the shapes, gestures, and symbolism of the body.  It’s also a message/story in a language that the entire world understands without uttering a single word.
Body language is also the language of human emotions and feelings.
Our hands, forming gestures, are an extension of the heart, but the entire body also almost constantly forms gesture-shapes in response to the reality we experience, like a sensitive organic instrument.
Expect props here.

4. CONTRAINDICATIONS:
– psychotic states
– psychotropic therapy (not contraindicated, but consultation with a doctor is required)
– advanced pregnancy and the very early postpartum period
– various types of inflammatory and acute conditions
– epilepsy
– glaucoma
– current, unresolved injuries
Situations requiring caution:
– high sensitivity to strong stimuli, e.g., loud noises
– use of pharmaceuticals
– general poor health
– long-term untreated depression
– long-term exhaustion or weakness

– Also, individuals who are calling to dance, but perhaps haven’t previously given themselves the opportunity to pursue this specific need.  What you do every day doesn’t matter for your participation in the course.

Teachers and performers of all stripes also have the opportunity to gain a wealth of inspiration and knowledge here.
We welcome therapists interested in bodywork.
