DETAILED COURSE INFORMATION:
KEY INFO (goals and methods):
This course is a land of high-calorie creativity and a celebration of expression, but also a mindful journey for the mind, body, and spirit. A journey in which you not only discover and deepen your dance/motor skills, but also receive support and the opportunity to gain insight, transformation, and rediscover your potential (not just creatively).
All this through play, authentic expression, deep self-experience through mind-body, as well as reflection and pause.
You will receive tools from the following fields: broadly defined contemporary dance (primarily from the area of dance improvisation), as well as from the fields of therapeutic dance, physical theater, and movement composition (elements). You will learn (or deepen) the choreotherapy methods of:
* Dr. Detlef Kappert
* Anna Halprin’s method (elements)
* the original method of the instructor, Interart Dance
Elements of Qi Gong, Yoga, and relaxation techniques will also be present.
In this course, dance intertwines with other artistic disciplines, and movement expression techniques with mindfulness training. The course curriculum is unique, rich, and highly eclectic. The course is led by a person with extensive and varied experience in bodywork and a passion for what they do. The grounding in specific methods provides a balanced and mindful approach to both dance and art therapy. I don’t promise you eternal happiness 24/7 or a recipe for life, but rather a training course for surfing the waves of life.
Additional strengths of the course include: its in-person format, regularity, and competitive pricing – considering the program.
THE COURSE AS A CLOSED COMPLETE UNIT:
The course is a process (a series of workshops) and is held in a CLOSED FORM, meaning in a fixed group.
The course is open-ended, and the course itself is designed to benefit both experienced and beginner participants.

About the combination of CONTEMPORARY DANCE and THERAPEUTIC DANCE:
The interweaving of therapeutic dance and contemporary dance (here: dance improvisation), therapeutic dance, and other disciplines in this course is crucial and deliberate, as it trains the dancer not only in experiencing and releasing content stored in the body, but also in body awareness, motor agility, and the use of specific forms in movement. This approach allows the mind to keep pace with the body and facilitates self-expression, preventing us from getting stuck at the level of sensation, association, or imagination. The physicality both supports mental space and allows us to delve deeper into the process.
4 PILLARS OF THIS COURSE:
1. DANCE IMPROVISATION (as a branch of contemporary dance)
This is a calorie-rich celebration of your expression through movement/dance.
It is your unique way of expressing yourself in the language of movement. It’s a movement in which you are the creator, creating new worlds, and within them, yourself anew. At the same time, this creation is a movement that arises by letting go of control, judgment, and grounding yourself in the present moment in topics available in real time.
2. THERAPEUTIC DANCE:
It’s a deeper encounter with yourself and allowing yourself to be yourself. Change is not a goal, but rather happens through dancing with what is as it is. It’s an authentic expression of all your parts (both light and dark). What is noticed, allowed, and expressed changes form, often becoming your ally.
3. PHYSICAL THEATRE:
It’s a meeting of theater and the body feeling in motion.
It’s shapes, gestures, and the symbolism of the body.
It’s also a message/story in a language that the entire world understands without uttering a single word.
Body language is also the language of human emotions and feelings. Our hands, forming gestures, are an extension of the heart, but the entire body also almost constantly forms gesture-shapes in response to the reality we experience, like a sensitive organic instrument.
4. MOVEMENT COMPOSITION (ELEMENTS):
These are etudes that participants create based on the given themes and tools. These are unique movement expressions built on feeling, mood, and inner stories. These are essential dance impressions created using simple methods. Movement expressions about what is important, difficult, unique, mysterious, authentic, or funny. Movement composition is a space for telling stories about oneself and the world.
